First failure with the power source, but that is to be expected and I don't think I'll have the same again. It's a good thing I didn't try it on my Age though, the crystal just heat up and bursted. If I had not been wearing my protective googles, I might have got a shard in my eye.

Most of my time is set on researching and crafting the crystal to link, and as for the rest of the time, I've gotten my friend to translate portions of it for me, just so I can get a good idea of where I'll be going.

He says the Age is made out of many island like Riven before (or after?) it. Most of it is tropical, beaches, forests, but one island is surrounded by fog it seems. He has no idea where I'll be linking nor if anyone lives there. He did mention a few wild beasts however and although we don't know if they'll be threatning, I won't take the chance and make sure to bring my hunting gun with me when I link. I don't intend to hunt the fauna, it would be much more fascinating to study them instead.

Well, I'll get back to my research. I'm so excited I can barely write. Let's hope everything goes well.

Took my friend longer to analyse the book then expected. It's unsurprising considering the increasing ammount of tests he had to perform as none revealed anything negative. It seems he never did find any flaw with my linking book, it's a beauty and once I get it running, it'll be unique. Me and him have a deal: if I get it running, I have to take him with me. A very fair trade indeed.

One thing he mentionned that concerned me was that this book was heavily modified at some point. A lot of words were taken out and replaced by others in a three decade timespan according to him. What puzzles him is that the first iteration looked stable as well and usually the D'ni don't modify linking books in this manner unless there's a very good reason. I doubt I'll ever get a real answer on that one, but you never know.

Moving along, I've determined that to power the book, it will take me another three weeks of work. It's a shame, but I have no choice, especially since I need to do everything by hand. In the meantime, I'll have to keep it locked and under guard in a city bank. It's terrifing to think that this book could be destroyed so easily and making all the work I've done up until now obsolete.

I doubt I'll have anything to say until I finally get the linking window working. Oh, and the age is still nameless, so I'll have to wait to either name it or see whta name it was given.

It was hard, but I brought the book to be verified to one of my good friends who studied D'ni further then me, especially when it comes to the writing of ages. I'm pretty sure he'll be able to confirm that indeed, I have in my possession an actual age, and hopefully tell me if it's a stable age or not, which is my real concern.

In the meantime, I started both selling books and looking for the best way to power that age. I was actually hoping to stumble upon a fully working age, but then again no one would sell one of those if even they still exist.

I don't know how much time it will take me to link. I should have an answer by friday on the situation of my linking book. Hopefully I will also have a name for it by then, as there was none written on the cover. And it better not be along the lines of "Gehn's 223rd age".

    Linking book
I still can't believe that after all of this time, after so many years of researches and expenses, after buying 346 books which turned out to be duds, I have come upon this. The moment I received the package and opened it, I knew this one would be different, I could feel it.

The others were indeed different. Of the 346, most were not even written in D'Ni and for the small ammount which were, they were not actual linking books, just text books. That's the problem when you buy your books from a distance through auctions, you come upon treasures for others, but simply not what you're looking for. Until now.

I will need to read the entire age first, to know what I'm up against. Then, I intend to get to authentified, make sure this book is the real deal. It has a linking window, but it doesn't work, which makes me think that maybe it needs a power source. Thankfully, I know how to create one, but that will take time and more money. No matter, I'm sure I can sell the bad books for a good source of money.

The goal is at hand. Let's hope things turn out the right way.
